civitatem resolutions

a digital peacebuilding initiative where community gathers, containers hold, and constellations guide

as technology transforms, enables, and unlocks connections transnationally, we imagine a world where all people benefit equally from the global digital transformation. to us, this involves paying attention to structural and systemic factors, dismantling power imbalances, and getting to the root cause of issues that come to surface. we strive to build feminist futures.

our work of digital peacebuilding, thus, sits across the online-offline continuum. our work involves pushing for the creation of ethical and responsible digital platforms and emerging technologies, facilitating real human connections, and creating resources that can nurture and foster community.

civitatem is the latin word for “of community.” we focus on community, where we harness the power of people coming together to listen, learn, and facilitate change; containers, where we shape spaces, platforms, and networks by embedding feminist principles and values; and constellations, where we build knowledge repositories to guide communities and shape containers for engagement.

  • we ground communities by co-creating containers for their engagement through:

    • governance: we co-design governance policies and guidelines with community stakeholders that balance innovation with protection, and translate successful community governance models into policy proposals and legal frameworks that promote digital peace at scale.

    • policy advisory and support: we support organisations in navigating the risks, responsibilities, and possibilities unlocked by emerging technologies, and offer guidance on compliance, risks, and ethical grounding in developing, deploying, and using emerging technology. our work centres ethics, justice, and accountability, because good tech policies aren’t just about safety - they are all about equity. learn more>>
