conflict transformation, negotiation, and mediation course
conflict is often treated with uncertainty, fear, and avoidance - and winds up persisting when we are resistant about addressing it.
no conflict takes place in isolation: there is always a context, and the factors that intersect and interact with context, and complicate our lived experiences also play a role in shaping, enabling, and even addressing conflicts. this course recognizes these realities and offers insights on how we can understand, analyze, and engage with conflict, and offers specific practical training on negotiating a conflict for yourself and mediating a conflict for others. It offers a comprehensive overview of conflict transformation as an approach, presents the building blocks of negotiation and mediation, and draws from rich examples from the majority world and feminist scholars and practitioners in the field of conflict transformation.
