ai problems are rarely technical: they are human, collective, relational, ethical, and organisational. movement practices from the majority world have historically mobilised to create transformation through radical imagination. they have created a powerful “third spaces” that hold curious tensions between relying on the master’s tools for transformation and attempting to dismantle them. their actions and practical leadership has been documented in the doing rather than in writing. this section chronicles pioneering endeavours spearheaded by movements seeking social change and justice, with and without the use of technology. the learnings, values, and ideas from these movements have powerful wisdom to offer for the future of ai governance.
