beyond policy: a living archive of wisdom for AI governance
AI governance has been one of the most significant challenges of our time. and yet, most of the key conversations around it are happening within legislative halls and regulatory frameworks. this project starts differently: it acknowledges that humankind has always built and practiced powerful ways of organising collective life, negotiating power, maintaining accountability, and caring for current and future generations. these ways of knowing, being, and doing deserve a seat at the table.
this project draws from a global community of practice and builds an open archive of concepts, worldviews, philosophies, ideas, approaches, and ways of being that can inform pluralistic approaches to AI governance. each concept we document carries insights about interdependence, responsibility, and flourishing that no policy brief alone can capture.
this is an invitation to think differently about who gets to shape AI, and what knowledge counts. this archive is built in two ways: one, through secondary research, and two, through live labs that bring together people united by a common interest or area of work to engage and build approaches to governance informed by the wisdom of their shared area of focus.

the journey
ai literacy training
reimagining governance
we start with a broad AI literacy workshop to support the community's understanding and ability to use AI tools responsibly and ethically.
we bring community members together to document philosophies, practices, and ways of looking, knowing, and doing that can shape AI governance.implementing governance
we present guidelines drawn from collective reflections to organisations developing and using AI, and policymakers for implementation.the beyond policy lab

wisdom from around the world
the archive below documents wisdom drawn from around the world: practices, philosophies, worldviews, ideas, and approaches. this is a live and evolving archive. it is not intended as prescriptive, but rather, as meaningful provocations for folks engaged at any point in the AI lifecycle to look at the journey of governance through long-held wisdom.
